Obituary for Regina H. Rock (Karvelis)

“Avid Boston Red Sox Fan”

OAKVILLE – Regina Helen (Karvelis) Rock, 92 passed away at home on September 9, 2018. She was born on August 6, 1926 to the late Justin and Helen (Mendle) Karvelis of Waterbury.

Regina was married to Frederick Rock, the love of her life, for 56 years, before his passing in 2004. Fred and Gina enjoyed many road trips together, including trips to Lake George, NY, where they honeymooned and returned yearly for family vacations for over 35 years. Gina worked as a bookkeeper at Timex Corp, Judge-Piel Office Supply, Atlas Screw Machine and finally Office Products of CT in Waterbury, from where she retired in 2015 after many attempts. Gina was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and would always be proud to announce the score but only if they won. She loved the casinos and enjoyed many trips there with her daughter. Going to breakfast, Sunday afternoon ice-cream runs and driving to Hebert’s to get candy were among her favorite things to do.

Among her survivors are her two daughters, Debra Iosa of Palm Harbor, FL and Shelley Schultz and her husband Jon of Oakville with whom Gina made her home, her son, Randall Rock and his wife Laura of Watertown, three granddaughters, Melanie Hansen of Palm Harbor, FL, Kimberly Rock of Watertown, Kristina Tighe and her husband Zachary of Bristol, a grandson, Eric Hansen of Nashville, TN and a great-grandson, Cody Walsingham of St. Petersburg, FL. She also leaves behind two of her sisters Marlene Reeser and Delores Wood and her husband Bill as well as several nieces and nephews. Gina is predeceased by her sister Edna Piel and her brother Edward Karvelis.
