OAKVILLE – Mr. Americo Correia, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 9, 2019 at his home. He was the husband of the late Anna Evelyn Correia for 69 years.

After he was discharged, he delivered oil for Waterbury Petroleum Products for many years before working in multiple local factories. He eventually retired from Waterbury Swiss Automatics.

Americo was a man of deep faith, devoted to God. He was a communicant at Saint Mary Magdalen Parish and made many religious retreats. Family was most important to Americo. He enjoyed vacations with his daughter and her family, sightseeing, visiting amusement parks and spending time at the beach.

In addition to his loving wife and his parents, Americo is predeceased by his brother, Roy Correia. He is survived by his three children, Dianne Diorio and her husband James of Watertown, Michael Correia and his wife Phyllis of Oakville, and John Correia and his wife Mary of Oakville; his three brothers, John Correia and his wife Lucille of Waterbury, Leonard Correia and his wife Cindy of Oakville, Joseph Correia and his wife Carol of Naugatuck; his sisters, Lydia Keith, Wilhelmina Plourde and her husband Joseph, Irene DiFronzo and her husband Robert, and Virginia Scozzafava and her husband John, all of Waterbury. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as, many nieces and nephews.

The Correia family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Vitas, especially Maria, for their guidance, care and support during Americo’s brief illness. A special thank you to Dianne Diorio for taking on the role of caretaker, devoting herself to making his final days comfortable.
