OAKVILLE – Elinor (Yanavich) Arnauskas, age 99 of Oakville, passed away peacefully at on November 15, 2019 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of John Arnauskas..
Elinor was born on April 28, 1920 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Adam and Anna Juneviceus Yanavich. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School. She worked for many years at Scovill Mfg as a Secretary where she retired after many years of service. She was a longtime parishioner of St Mary Magdalen Church and a member of the Oakville Senior Center. She enjoyed line dancing and a long life, very well lived, She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy are her niece, Pamela Shortell and her husband, Ronald of Waterbury and her nephew, Alan Stadalnik and his wife, Cyndy of Southbury as well as many nieces and nephews. Elinor was predeceased by her sisters; Ann Cheplick, Regina Stadalnik and Josephine Ramanauska and her brothers; John, Joseph and Edward Yanavich.
Funeral services for Mrs. Arnauskas will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 16 Buckingham St Oakville at 11:00 a.m. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in her family plot in Calvary Cemetery.
