Obituary for Rose O. Melvin

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY ROSE MELVIN

“Loving Mother and proud Grandmother”

WATERTOWN – Rose O. Melvin, age 85, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Apple Rehab in Watertown CT after an extended illness. She was the widow of John Melvin.

Rose was born on December 12, 1933 in Scotland, the daughter of the late George and Sarah McAlees. Rose and her family settled in Waterbury CT in 1968 and then moved to Tennesse. John and Rose loved to listen to music and dance together. Following her husband’s death and 39 wonderful years together, Rose returned to CT. Rose always put her family above all else and they were a great source of pride and joy for her. One of her favorite things was to go on long car rides and to go shopping with her two daughters. Rose was a very kind and gentle soul who had a loving and generous heart. She made the world a better place for all of us, and we are blessed and thankful to have had her in our lives.

Rose is survived by her two daughters; Maureen Shea and her husband, Dennis of West Haven, Kathleen Melvin and Anthony Mauriello of Oakville, her three sons; John “Ian” Melvin and his wife, Sonya of Cleveland TN, Andrew Melvin of Sweetwater TN, and Stuart Melvin and his wife, Karen of Chesapeake VA, She is also survived by her sister; Laticia Smith of Scotland, as well as seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Rose was predeceased by her eight siblings. Rose’s family would like to extend their personal appreciation and recognition to the staff at Apple Rehab for the love and comfort they shared with Rose and her entire family during her stay there.
